Q: You are what I am striving to be, a medium. I'm having some difficulties achieving this. I meditate, pray, talk and ask to communicate with Spirits but I'm not having a lot of luck. I do sometimes have mental thoughts pop into my head that I now are not mine. I'm just not as far along as I would like to be. Do you have any advice to help me along? A: Being a medium is a matter of really having faith in your abilities and truly trusting what messages you receive. Spirits, Guides and Angels all have different ways of communicating with us. Sometimes it is just that voice or mental thought that pops into our head. Other times it is as easy as seeing them standing there. They really like to communicate through emotions and symbolism too. I will sometimes have a spirit that will show up and mentally transmit information to me through a type of telepathy, other times I will receive images, smells, physical or emotional feelings and a number of other types of messages or impressions. These are all different subtle messages that can help you to form a stronger "link" with that particular entity. When you trust and convey those messages to people, that is when you create a type of triangle connection between your energy, a person’s energy and the entity trying to communicate. This will usually tie you in with a more direct energetic link and will create a better flow to your reading when you are first learning to be a medium. You also have to learn to really separate your emotions from the person you are connecting for. That is one of the biggest reasons that it is easier to read for a complete stranger that you know nothing about verses reading for a family member. Meditation, prayer and asking for guidance are always beneficial to increasing your abilities, but when it comes down to it, it is all about faith and eliminating self doubt. Think of it this way, when you are trying to help someone, messages that come through are not always things that we, as the medium, can understand. So sometimes it can be very awkward sharing them, but it is sometimes the weirdest stuff that makes the most sense to the person that you are trying to help. The hard part is putting your fears of being incorrect and/or embarrassed aside, and trusting that there is always a reason for the messages we get through. That is about the best advice that I could give anyone trying to connect with the other side. :)
